Winners of Outstanding Thesis Scholarships

Chuan-Fen Chuang, an alumnus of the Institute, was named the 2nd place winner of the Taipei-Tianmu Rotary Club's Thesis Scholarship for her master's thesis Cultural Representations of Water Ecology in Taiwan: Nature Writings of Ming-Yi Wu, Documentary Films of Mayaw Biho and Jin-Yuan Ke.

Sheng-Yi Cheng, a student of the Institute's master's program, was named winner of the Dissertation Scholarship Grant; his master's thesis- Film Perspectives of Taiwan's Indigenous People: a Discussion of Bilin Yabu's Documentaries was included in the annual thesis compilation by the The National Museum of Taiwan Literature.

Jo-Tzu Yang, an alumnus of the Institute, received the Ministry of Education's Dissertation and Journal Publication Scholarship Grants for Promoting Gender Equality for her thesis Gender Power and Sexuality Performance: A Study on Taiwan Romance Fiction between 1990 and 2011.

Hsin-Yun Wang, a student of the Institute's master's program, was named winner of the 2013 Taiwan Literature and History Thesis Scholarship for his master's thesis Writing and Social Movements- Periphery Revolt and Culture Criticism of The South, Before and After the Lifting of the Martial Law.

Sheng-Bo Yang, a student of the Institute's master's program, was named winner of the Dissertation Scholarship Grant; his master's thesis- Nation, Daily-life and Post-human: The Spatial Narrative of Post-war Taiwan Science Fiction was included in the 2011 Annual Thesis Compilation by the The National Museum of Taiwan Literature.

Sue-Ping Yang, an alumnus of the Institute, was named winner of the Outstanding Thesis Scholarship by Taiwan's Hakka Affairs Council for her master's thesis Hakka Women’s Images in Lee-Ciao’s Trilogy of Wintry Night─with a focus on Den-Mei Yeh.

White Dolphin Etudes, a Taiwanese documentary directed by Yu-Chun Chien, a student of the Institute's master's program, was named the winner of the Platinum Remi Award, the highest honor in the Nature and Wildlife Category at the 47th Annual Worldfest Houston Film Festival in 2014.

Sheng-Yi Cheng, a student of the Institute's master's program, received Mainland Affairs Council's Graduate Students' Travel Grants for Conducting Research in China for his paper Migrating and Seeking Roots: a Comparison of Taiwan and China's Ethnic Minority Documentaries.

Alive and Lively Formosan Macaque, a Taiwanese documentary directed by Yu-Chun Chien, a student of the Institute's master's program, was named the Finalist in the Government Agency Category, and was given an Honorable Mention for Cinematography, and Honorable Mention for Scientific Content of the 2009 International Wildlife Film Festival.

Legend of the Chinese Moccasin, a Taiwanese documentary produced, directed, scripted, and filmed by Yu-Chun Chien, received an Honorable Mention for Cultural Presentation of Information, Honorable Mention for Cinematography, and Honorable Mention for Scientific Content at the 32nd International Wildlife Film Festival.
