International workshop: “World at War: Cultural Production and Militarism”

時間:2018年10月08日(一)10:00-17:00
地點:國立中興大學人文大樓712教室
主辦單位:國立中興大學台灣文學與跨國文化研究所、文學院

簡介:
Seven decades after WWII, most survivors and witnesses have passed away. Their war memories and their stories, told or untold, are fading into oblivion. The nuclear deterrence has prevented WWIII from taking place, yet military conflicts and politics of hatred and fear, justified by racism, nationalism, and militarism, continue to dominate the world. Meanwhile, the development of military drones and other war technologies are changing the ways how wars are conducted and experienced by military personnel. Images of war infiltrate every nook and cranny of everyday life, but the physical consequence of war—how human bodies are hurt, traumatized, and destroyed—become increasingly invisible to those far away from the war zones.
Focusing on the invisibility of the body in literary and visual representations of war, this workshop aims to examine how critical reflections on war-related cultural productions expose world politics of racism, nationalism and militarism.
