Holding a Ph.D. in Taiwanese Literature from National Cheng Kung University, with a Master's in Cultural Studies from Lingnan University and another Master's in Chinese Language and Literature from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Professor Mak has received comprehensive training in cultural and literary studies.

His research encompasses the connections between Cold War-era Taiwan and Hong Kong cinema, and the intersections of contemporary social movements and imagery, with a particular focus on emotional dimensions. His writings have been published in journals such as "Chung Wai Literary Quarterly" and "Cultural Studies".

國立成功大學台灣文學博士，嶺南大學文化研究碩士及香港中文大學中國語言及文學碩士。接受文化研究和文學研究訓練。研究範疇包括冷戰台港電影的連結，以及當代社運和影像的構連，特別關注情感面向。著作散見於《中外文學》、《文化研究》等期刊。
